Le Bric à Brac (n°5): Odds & Ends

Bonjour, readers! I'm keeping it short and sweet today, but I think all of the things I've collected over the course of the week are really, really fun! Enjoy. :)

⚜I am definitely going to try to make my own list of 100 dreams inspired by Anne Bogel over on Modern Mrs Darcy. Check out more about the list of 100 dreams idea here on her blog.

⚜I am in week one of Carrie Anne of French is Beautiful's course: l'art de VIVRE. This week has been all about la beauté and how taking care of ourselves inside and out allows us to present the best version of ourselves to the world. She used the phrase "gilding the lily" which I was not familiar with, so I am going to share Urban Dictionary's definition here:
Gilding the Lily: to adorn unnecessarily something already beautiful
My sentence:  By putting on a lot of makeup, she was gilding the lily. (That is to say, she didn't need it because she has so much natural beauty.)
⚜A simple cake I want to make! Géraldine Lepere of Comme Une Française shared the recipe for a quatre-quart on the Simple Sophisticate podcast. Here's how it works: weigh your eggs and add equal parts flower, sugar and butter.... et voila! She goes into more detail about how you can get creative with a few added ingredients, so have a listen! Here's an easy to follow YouTube video I found for making quatre-quart cake! Stork is the brand of butter he's using, but you can use any butter you'd like! :)

⚜As I've mentioned before, the community of fellow francophiles, creatives, learners and passion followers is why I love Fleur de St. Louis as much as I do. Mon amie Mélissa from Australia recently sent me some francophile videos, and this one made me laugh. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! You can follow Mélissa on Instagram @modernlanguagelearners. She is amazing!

J'espère que vous passez un très bon week-end! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Warm wishes from me to you,

  1. Dear Lauren,
There are so many interesting Francophile options today, but so few which address a married lifestyle with children. I hope you can be that new flavor! Sherrylynne

  2. Sherrylynne,

I haven't read either of these books but your comment made me think you might enjoy! They have both been on my radar:

*How to Make a French Family by Samantha Vérant

*Bringing Up Bébe by Pamela Druckerman

I hope these bring you some of the content you are looking for! I will surely be integrating my married life and family (with a little French flair) when I get to that point as this is such a personal space for me.

    Merci for being here!

  3. All the updates from different blogs is too good but I being a foodie specially like the recipe of a cake to the most. Thanks!

    1. So happy you found something that you enjoyed! Merci beaucoup for stopping by!
